Behind the Mexican Door

We had so much fun hosting Joel, Dani, and Paul from MovingtoMexi.co at Casa Bella Cruz in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle for the day! They featured us in a two-part episode for their series "Behind the Mexican Door" where they explore amazing properties hidden away in parts of Riviera Nayarit. Many properties here in Mexico look simple on the outside, but behind the door, it is another world. We like to think that our vacation rental, Casa Bella Cruz, is one of those properties!

In the first episode, we welcome them to the property, starting at the "heart" of the Casa and then exploring the ground floor. There definitely is a "wow" factor when stepping through the front door of Casa Bella Cruz. The property expands back to illuminate the large courtyard highlighting the sparkling pool, flourishing plants, and welcoming atmosphere. There is an immediate peaceful and serene feeling when coming in like you just stepped into your private oasis in the jungle. Surrounded by palm trees and birds chirping among the rippling of the pool's waterfall.

When walking in, the large palm tree with unique flowing, hanging vines first catches Dani's eye. This tree was on the property when we purchased it in October 2021 and has been growing and thriving ever since! There are now 3 large hanging vines we've heard called jellyfish, dreadlocks, and alien hair... leave a comment below if you come up with a new name for them!

Our attention is then drawn to the courtyard and pool, thoughtfully surrounded by plenty of comfortable seating that was added with our guests in mind. Then making our way to the suites, named after Mexican flowers. We start in the Sage Suite, our cozy ground-floor studio, where Dani and Joel help us point out some of the highlights of this suite. Including its large size, king-size bed, desk area, comfortable couch, closet, and full kitchen. Discussing the changes we have made to the unit, adding the special Huanacaxtle wood touches to the kitchen and throughout the room, and adding mood-setting lighting from Casa Nut.

I tell Joel and Dani how important it has been for us to source locally when making additions to the Casa. We've had a lot of fantastic help finding incredible pieces for the property. Mainly from the design firm Poltrona Studio, we would be lost without them!

We then move onto the Orchid Suite, our one-bedroom ground-floor apartment. Wrapping up the tour in this suite, Joel points out his favorite part so far, how each suite has a picture frame effect. Once inside, no matter where you are seated, you can enjoy a view highlighting our courtyard and pool. Ending this episode, we all head upstairs to check out the second floor and palapa!

In part two, we make our way past the pool and to the sizeable Huanacaxtle wood table near the stairs. Stopping for a moment to discuss picking out this table from a slab of wood on the side of the road and seeing our neighbors at Huanacaxtle work their magic! Once upstairs, we arrive at our Marigold Suite, a large studio with the addition of a spacious private balcony. This is the last suite on our tour before moving up to the rooftop palapa. We talk about the location of Casa Bella Cruz, highlighting how close we are to the town square and directly across the street from the Marina Riviera Nayarit and the beach. We truly are located right in the center of town! Joel has a great idea to come back sometime soon for one of our guest house happy hours! We can't wait!

Thank you so much to Joel, Dani, and Paul for being our guests for the day and featuring our vacation rental in La Cruz! We hope you watch the episodes and that we can soon host you at Casa Bella Cruz.
